{"id":11122,"date":"2025-11-14T06:03:37","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T06:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.spotlight.com\/?p=11122"},"modified":"2025-11-25T16:29:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T16:29:08","slug":"spotlight-signs-the-pipa-pledge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spotlight.com\/news-and-advice\/the-industry\/spotlight-signs-the-pipa-pledge\/","title":{"rendered":"Spotlight Signs the PiPA Pledge"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotlight signs PiPA\u2019s new pledge in support of parents and carers in the performing arts.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents and Carers in Performing Arts (PiPA) \u2013 a charity aiming to create a sector where carers and parents are valued, supported and empowered to thrive \u2013 has now launched their new pledge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coinciding with their 10th anniversary, the PiPA Pledge outlines five key principles that they, and the 80+ other organisations that have already signed it, are committed to working towards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotlight has signed the pledge and is committed to celebrating all forms of parenting and caregiving through PiPA\u2019s principles, outlined below:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>1. To Recognise<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carers and parents face real barriers to work in the performing arts. We seek to recognise those barriers and to address them with informed action.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>2. To Champion<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We champion carers and parents who are integral to our creative strength. Through leadership and collaboration, we shape inclusive workplaces that respond to their needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>3. To Balance<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work-life balance supports wellbeing and powers creativity. We\u2019re building a culture of flexibility grounded in open conversations about how, when and where work happens.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>4. To Evolve<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re putting care into practice. We continue to evolve, staying relevant by developing adaptable, responsive and supportive policies and practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>5. To Celebrate<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We celebrate and showcase the exceptional creativity, skills and experiences that parents and carers bring to the performing arts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Co-CEO and Creative Director of PiPA, Anna Ehnold-Danailov, said, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe wanted to create an opportunity for performing arts organisations to show their commitment to supporting parents and carers so that parents and carers can identify which organisation is inclusive, but also for them to celebrate the positive ways of working.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt&#8217;s very difficult for anybody, specifically freelancers who&#8217;ve got caring responsibilities, to know if it is okay to mention the challenges that they might have, or that they might have to work differently. It is important for an organisation to be proud about the ways that they&#8217;re already working to show that they can work in a very inclusive way.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf you are an actor and you are a parent or carer, we see you,\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> said Co-CEO and Executive Director Cassie October Raine. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI have literally been there.
